Communication technology

Technology has had a huge impact on society over time and continues to develop and grow every day. To me, I think that technology has both positive and negative effects. I do own an Apple iPhone 4GS which is currently the newest iPhone available. I absolutely love it and feel as though I could not live without it. Two days ago, I washed my old iPhone in the washing machine and had to use a go Phone. That lasted me an entire 24 hours before I could not stand it anymore and went out to purchase the 4GS. So I guess you could say that I am very dependent on my iPhone because I just feel as if the iPhone offers everything as the tips of your fingers.

Although these new toys and electronics are great, I fear that technology will one day consume our lives and take over. I remember in the 3rd grade, we could not pass the class if we could not write in cursive. In today’s world, students are not taught penmanship or the importance of written letters like I was which to me is a shame. I feel as though technology is a great thing but we have to be careful to not let it over take our lives into an electronic, non personal society.

The radio is something that has been around for a long time and I do not think I could personally live without it. In my car every day I listen to the same 3 stations around the same time of day. I feel somewhat connected to the DJ's as they speak about current topics and Celebrity news and then play the music which I like to listen to. My dad is more of a talk radio guy which sometimes i do not mind. For the most part though my mom, brother and I all listen to FM radio daily.

It is almost hard to believe that radio was such a hit when it came out because today with all the gadgets and toys to mess with it's hard to imagine a world without any of it. The radio is something that has grown and developed throughout time and you can now listen to various stations all around the United States.

As far as the future goes for radio, I believe that it has hit almost a plateau. With MP3s taking over, many people do not care for the radio and its multiple commercials a day, they would rather pick and choose songs that they have downloaded and avoid the commercials. On the other hand the radio is a convenient and easy to use technology that many continue to use on a daily basis. I honestly believe that the radio will be around for many more years as stations try different techniques to keep their listeners intrigued. No matter if MP3s grow, the radio will still be around. Cars will be made with a built in radio for many years to come. New things will be developed just like satellite radio has come to and newer and better things will arrive. This is not the end for radio, and it is not soon to come.

Here is a website the describes five trends for the future of radio that I found interesting.
